ILARIA PETRI
Hi, my name is Ilaria and I am an Italian freelance translator.
My great passion for languages led me to take the path of translations.
As a child, I was a great lover of books, examining every form of written piece of manual that could be present in my library at home; during this process I realized, with enormous amazement, the existence of other languages besides Italian.
Immediately recognizing the importance of English, in order to communicate with other cultures and, at the same time, understand them, I began to get close to the London world with various summer study holidays. The path that followed obviously took a linguistic approach, getting close to languages such as English and French, to which I added German only at a later stage.
After graduating from high school in 2010, I continue my studies in Pisa attending a Foreign Language degree.
After my Bachelor’s degree, obtained in November 2013 with a thesis purely based on an Italian translation of a French text, I decided to get my master in this language (second only in importance to my beloved English).
A year of preparations and in September 2014 I landed in Belgium to follow a master in translation by continuing to study both English and German.
The two years abroad have been difficult, sometimes gruelling, but finally, in August 2016, I obtained my translation master degree that qualifies me as a translator.
In the following two years, I continued to go back and forth between Italy and Belgium untangling myself between the various competitions and the various job opportunities that the foreign country offers; then, at the end of 2018 I decided to settle down in Italy… permanently.
Despite my young age, I started to built my own experience in this field since 2017, translating and revising various private websites, both in Italian and English.
This led me to work with companies such as “Translated.net”, “Babelcube.com”, “Scrybs.com” continuing to translate and revise on behalf of private customers and companies.
